Lake Herrington

As noted below by Isabelle, we spent last weekend at Lake Herrington, Ky, celebrating the Williamson's 60th wedding anniversary (the people in the water above represent about 1/3 of the total number. Every child, grandchild, and great grandchild made it. Award for coming from furthest away went to Isabelle and David who came all the way from Brooklyn, NY, just to jump off the dock.Claire, on the other hand, seemed content to pose by the rocks ... not. She was just on her way down the Johnson cliffs to the boathouse. No doubt she was in a hurry to see Dad and John back flipping off the roof of the boat dock.

or maybe to see tiny Isabelle ski one-handedor possibly to watch David "Mad Max" Linaberg on the jet skiBut at any rate, it was certainly to have a good time which we all did!

60th Anniversary!

Here are the first of, what I hope, will be many pictures! We had a great weekend at the lake with the entire Williamson side! Water skiing, jet skiing, swimming, flipping, eating, etc. What more could you ask for? We also had a lovely renewing of vows ceremony complete with Japanese lanterns. It was a great time and I hope we can all get together again soon!

Surfing on Isle of Palms

The latest group of visitors have really taken to surfing. June was a pretty dead month for waves, but July has shown a little stuff. Katie and Sara have hit the surf with Claire and Uncle Bayne all three of the last three days.

We even decided to get a new board, so went to Parrott Surf Shop and got a 7' 10" fun shape with Australia on it. John and Isabelle will enjoy that board I think.

Where are you Isabelle?

It sounds like Isabelle is having a good time in New York, but somebody wanted her to know that she was missed. Yes, it's me, Gus. Dad does a good job feeding me and Mom takes me to the beach in the morning usually, but I still miss my Isabelle. Can I come to New York and visit? I would be good. Do they have dogs up there? Do they like dogs? What language do the dogs speak?

Week 2!

Hello lovely family and friends.

Claire is gone and I am quite sad. Her stay here was, as always, wonderful for my spirit and home! Claire is such a good cleaner!! heheheheh. We did a lot of fun things and I hope she comes back soon. Claire says that there is a good Jim Henson exhibit in DC so I think that David and I might make a trip down there to see it. I'm about to finish my second week of work also! It has been fun and I am getting more used to it. I still don't know everything, but that will come later I suppose.

David's friends from Vancouver are here so we have constant company! Last night we explored Brooklyn and ran into a street fair complete with carousels, funnel cake, the world's biggest chair.. all in the street. It was pretty bizarre to run into it. I also changed the background of my computer at work to Gus on the beach. I miss that dog.

If anybody comes to visit they can bring Gus with them!!

As for Lexington, its still super expensive. I wish I could go so if anybody has a good plan let me know. Maybe a half and half deal or something? That way it could be about 275 each. (AWFUL!!!) Oh well, maybe some miracle will happen and tickets will go down. BTW, Frontier doesnt fly from NYC to Lousiville.

Love to everybody!

I <3 NYC!!!!!

It's Morimoto!

Hello dearest jealous peoples!
I am currently in Washington DC, visiting one of my dearest old college buds, Lorin, and hoping to hit some of the free museums (Smithsonian!!! What was the name of the grand-uncle who was the curator? Am I totally mixing up what relation we have to him too?) but.....

I just finished up probably one of my most favorite trips ever being at casa Selby/Linaberg (don't you wish you werg! ah hahhaha...) It was truly great. As Isabelle said, we got to go to a Mets game where they actually won, visited the Koons exhibit at the Met, David and I got dear, giving Isabelle's free passes to the MoMA (though now she knows she can just flash her Simon&Schuster ID and get in free!) and saw the cool Dali + video exhibit (Spellbound, anyone?) along with fast walkthroughs of the lower 3-4 floors. We agreed we like Picasso the best. He's just all around good. I was also really happy to see some Brancusi, who's probably my famous sculptor (tur?), I think. Fyi, there is a huge hidden "Dancers (?)" of Matisse on the stairwell, around Brancusi's "Fish."

We also met up with my friend Laura Corless and her (newly announced!) fiancee' Jay, at an Irish Pub with sawdust on the floor ;) They both work in publishing too, so I was happy to connect them all up.

Isabelle also failed to mention that after the Mets game, we went to a place with Julie called "Barcade" where they had very good high-content beers made locally in Jersey and so forth, but were like Belgium or German beers. It was great! They also had tons of old Arcade games (Donkey Kong, Asteroids, Centipede... Isabelle and I dueled on Tetris)! Fun times, and yay for meeting Julie!

Isabelle is the luckiest girl in the world, I think. I'm so happy she's my seester!

good times

Hello Family! I'm sorry that the blog has not had a posting from me in so long!
Claire is visiting and I have been working all week which means little to no time for computer usage. Job = great! I've already been to a jacket meeting and have completed my first week! i also get to work an hour early everyday, which needs to change pronto. For the 4th of july David and I went to Cape Cod to hang out with the relatives... it was great also! We had lobsters, (David's first) swam in the cold ocean, ate ice cream, watched fireworks... ahh. Picture is of Ruthie, Julie and I.

Now that Claire is here she has gone to the moma with David and to the Met with me. AND on the same day we went to the Met, we saw the METs! (art museum- baseball) The Mets actually played really well and won the game! It was very exciting. We sat in the nosebleed seats, but were in the 2nd row and were between home base and 1st. Julie was also there, but sitting in mayor Bloomberg's seats at home base (2nd row). Baseball is pretty fun. maybe season tickets next yet. It is the last year at Shea Stadium too.

Well, we love you and miss you all! i wish I had more than 4 vacation days so I could visit home!

Buena Suerte Isabelle

Good luck on your first day at S&S Cafeter...., er I mean Publishers. We are all very excited. I know you will make a good first impression.

How do we do this?

I bow to the rest of the extended family in musical talents, yet I am still amazed at how "parlour room" music stuff has become a staple of the Selbies. We did it the other night with two friends (who love music but are not very musical), an assortment of kids, and of course it was a blast. Thank God for giving us this gift that we enjoy. By ourselves. Alone. In the privacy of our own homes. just kidding.

John is gone again

Mom and I moved John into the 7th floor of White Hall at App State today. He is happy. So are we. We are at Hampton Inn in Boone tonight. We are listening to opera on TV waiting to see if John wants to go out for dinner. Drive was uneventful except for really big rain. John wanted to listen to Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis most of the way. Mom and I have discovered a GREAT beer/wine store across from the Hampton Inn. Did you know Boone was dry until 1985 and Wautaga County is still dry?!?! Anyway, it even has Rauchbier von Bamberg, DE. (This is not John)

h-a-double P-y... cause it's your birthday!

i'm feeling h-a-double P-y cause its your birthday birthday
