Friends wear hats together...

Some of my favorite "hanauers" around moving time. We ate outside a lot (which also means my kitchen was basically outside)!

Family

Guess who I ran into yesterday?? The Uncles!

I think that they are on there way to West Point right now.. or perhaps they are already there, but it was so nice of them to come visit me at Rock Center! After a quick visit they headed back to Queens to enjoy a Mets game. Jealous!

I also saw Mom and Dad last weekend in DC.. want to see more? Click here!

MOVED AND JOBBED!

Greetings from your long lost daughter/sister/niece/granddaughter/friend (did I forget anything?)! As you may have heard, I now have a job as a goldsmith in Germany… and to boot, I live at the Baumgarts! You may be thinking, “Wow, Badness… that sounds like a dream come true!” and you would be correct. Just to be clear, I do plan on someday moving back to the land of our forefathers, it will just take a little while.

Think you couldn't fit much in a fiat cinco cento?

how bout them apples?
I work at a nice little goldsmith(ery?) in Bad Dürkheim called “Schmuck-Galerie am Römerplatz” which is the second goldsmith from my boss, who also has one in the next town over and has been there for about 16 or so years as opposed to this one’s 2. I will be working as a goldsmith and salesperson with my boss’s wife (…who is also my boss).

My earrings that I made during the trial week are already hanging in the window too as “wonderfully light earrings.” In case you’re wondering, they’re out of 750 gold (18K) with little tourmalines and green amber drops. Now I just have to sell them…

·      a little DÜW knowledge (that’s the license plate symbol for Bad Dürkheim. I don’t know where the “B” is, nor where the “W” comes from): They are known for being a sort of spa town for older folks, they have a freaking crazy sculpture at the Bahnhof,  and are well known for their Wurstfest. This may sound like a brats party, but it’s actually a winefest made originate from when some local monks would all go up on a mountain and fast for a while, and then come back down and eat/drink. Since they don’t seem to do that anymore, the fest has been turned into something appreciative of the vinyardy landscape (which you can’t help but notice on your strassenbahn/fiat ride there). In any case, it’s the only thing anyone actually seems to know about the town and I am to look forward to it.

This statue seem a little crazy to you from here? Trying looking at it up close. An entire post may later be dedicated to soley to it later on.

Incidentally, things I’ve been listening to on my work-way are: all the Kristen Chenoweth and Kurt Broadway songs from Glee (when I would drive the car. They are apparently my range), The Warblers, Glee on shuffle (mainly Christmas songs for some reason), and the book “Life of Pi” which I recommend to any and everybody.

In case you're not sure how much fun Eurovision Song Contest is...

Dessert Sushi!!!!

I know what you all may be thinking... I just moved after a few crazy weeks of stuff and painting... I live in Mannheim... I have a new job... why am I blogging about Sußigkeiten? But it is because I want to invest effort into that blog. Here, I just invested effort in the sushi and uploaded the photos. I am sehr proud and thankful that Isabelle enlightened me to them. I brought them to the "Eurovision Song Contest" party that Dome&Mareike sweetly invited me to (each of their friends made a dish and drink from their assigned country (Germany was not one of them), which we consumed as their country was on. It's basically the biggest well-known night of bad music and kitschy performances, but that just makes it more fun). I made this Japanese/American dish and brought it out during a commercial, which I found appropriate.
Stress-relief-Gorilla silently observes.
Can you name them all?

Leopard sushi?

Looks better on a cutting board.

Clemens and Dome support desert sushi.

All that was left after Eurovision Song Contest (and eaten by Martin and Michi the next day with espresso. Dignified!)
Stay tuned for an actual update! Also, I have flat rate to America! Let me know if you want a call!

Frohe Muttertag!!!!

Yay for a great mother of three intelligent, weird kids!

Wait... Isabug is not a brunette. I will let her fix that. Yay for her being a great mom to others and sweet little gussy dogs, elephants, and monkies!

SUP

I know what you're thinking. The Royal Wedding was the big news to make people get up way early in the morning. But not on Sullivan's Island! Many people from many countries, well, at least the USA and the UK (no, not Kentucky), were seen heading to the beach early Sunday morning. So your alert photographer had to follow them to see what was going on.
At first nothing, but then, moving down the inner channel created by the newest SI sandbar came a lone paddleboarder. But wait, there was a second occupant!
Yes, it was Lynda and Gus. And his tennis ball. The crowd roared and cheered their approval. And then, just like it had all been a dream, they sailed out of sight.
Will we see them again? Who knows. But stay tuned.
