Mom and Dad (and Gma, Papa, and Aunt B) did eat mountains of pancakes. In true Holy Cross Shrove Tuesday style, certain things ran out early (e.g. syrup, milk to drink) while others were horns o'plenty (e.g. saw a large bag of cooked sausage heading out at the end. But a great time was had by all. Gma talked to many friends and Papa met a young man from Uzbekistan and told him I could speak Turkish. We are ready for lent.
Hahahhaa. I am giving up news. So please don't send me any news stories!! Not that anybody does... but if you were thinking about it... I will have nothing to do with the news for 40 days.
I have become slightly obsessed with the news lately...
That looks confusing. News as in... THE NEWS... like NEWSPAPER. If you have something "new" to share with me, please do... but if it refers to the state of the world- no thank you.
Glad to hear everyone celebrated Mardi Gras in true Episcopal fashion. At our church, we had mountains of pancakes and Canadian bacon, plus a turducken (turkey, duck and chicken together) and some spicy Louisiana boudin (pork, liver, and rice). Everyone wore beads and masks and hats (I wore a colorful feather boa and KOTW and Kinzman wore their jester hats). After supper, we went into the church where a "No Talent Required Talent Show" commenced. This included everything from a little 1st grader singing Away in the Manger, to an old codger giving a dramatic reading of a poem, to a teenaged boy singing, to the youth group doing a silly skit, to the choir singing "We May Talk to Jesus Through The Royal Telephone". Everyone blew bubbles in the church, and then the rector got up and burned palm fronds in a small grill right there in the church, to be used in tonight's imposition of ashes. I don't think I've ever participated in such frivolity!
Wow!!! Sounds like everybody had a great Fat Tuesday!!! I also love this picture... it is now my background, taking the place of the xray of my left hand ;)
Maybe I'll make a post about that.
I went to sushi buffet! Kinda like you guys in that (Isabug) it's asian and (fambly) it's a lot of food ;) I didn't make it to church yesterday because I was super krank, which also helped with the fast ;p
I volunteered yesterday at a Children's hospital and missed church. However I did keep wondering why everybody had bruises on their heads... it took me a while to realize it was ash. I was seriously puzzled for a while- doh!
