I don't know what you all did this past weekend, but my dear husband and I had a great weekend and I've been dying to share it with you all. Most of the events from this weekend featured dear bridesmaid Robyn O. until she decided to ditch us in the nation's capitol. So, where to begin....
On Friday morning at work (we have summer fridays- half days) I was going to drop something off at somebody's desk and the radio was playing on their computer. I hovered for a second to see what it was saying and then heard those magical words that would transform my weekend forever... "Big Apple BBQ". As a South Carolinian how could I resist but keep listening? I learned that it was on Saturday and Sunday and would feature BBQ from states like SC, TX, AL, TN, NY etc.. That's all I needed to know. I rounded up the troops and Robyn, David, Julie (cousin), Joseph, Mickey and I all headed off to Madison Square Park to eat some deliciousness.
it took a long time to get this shot
So, as you might expect the place was complete madness and had we not been really hungry we might have turned around. However, we were ready to wait and each got in line at a different stand. We all reunited after acquiring our different selections- ribs, pulled pork, etc. I stood in line at the Nashville, TN stand after not getting anywhere in the Charleston, SC line. David said he didn't like the SC caterer anyway so I guess it all worked out. The TN pulled pork sandwich with coleslaw on top was great! We mainly had ribs and all shared whatever we had picked up in our communal feast. I think that the basic vote was that (surprise!) the NYC barbecue was the best. At least that's what David thought. I liked them all and was just happy to be eating a pulled pork sandwich.. yum. I think you can tell by the growing length of this post how hungry and into the BBQ I was. I also don't think that we were able to measure our favorite barbecue state adequately because the southern state's BBQ were the ones that could afford to get there and had the pricey catering trucks.
I meant to take a picture before we started chowing down but forgot. Here's what it looked like near the end of our feast:

BBQ! Possibly the best thing to come out of the south. Even if it's made in NYC! I'm hungry. Well, it'll have to be Rosie O'Grady's for trivia tonight.
Hmm... and yet now all I want is a snapple. Haha... remember that 30ROCK?
This looks excellent. I even recognize Julie's dress! Who are the boys though, musicians?
No, Joseph is Julie's friend and Mickey is my friend who used to work at S&S.
