Happy New Year!

Mom (Lynda) has declared 2010 the best year ever and I am forced to agree! (Though there are a lot of other years that tie). And the Christmas holidays were the best top off we could have had. Everyone arriving on the 22nd, Beka's birthday party that night, great dinner, singing-piano-harmonica playing in the music room after dinner, ice skating the next day, great wings and sandwiches, disc golf at Park Circle in the afternoon, chili!, movie that night, whatever young folk do after we all go to bed, beach football, great Christmas dinner, opening presents, extended family story telling, all capped off by a Beautiful Midnight Mass.

I may have to go back and edit in a picture for each of the above events. The key thing is that despite what the list might look like to one who wasn't' there, it was all very laid back. And love was always present.

The Sullivan's Island folk took a little time to recharge and things seem to be back to normal for us. We celebrated New Year's Day with Hoppin John and collards and hambone made by Mom (with Dad and Beka helping). And then we got back on the "bridge" wagon. The cards cooperated and Dad and Bayne won a quick two game rubber followed by Mom and Lynda winning a two game rubber. We'll call it a tie (although adding the numbers showed Mom and Lynda about 100 points to the better).
So Happy New Year to all! (Oh, and Mom and I saw the movie we all SHOULD have seen over Christmas - True Grit. Two thumbs up).

Happy New Year indeed! I haven't had any hoppin' john, but I did enjoy my kooshy envoy flight (with an empty seat beside me! Actually... there were only about 8 people in envoy out of more than twice that many seats so... yay people who don't fly when I have to!)

Also... apparently for this trip, things kids do after you all go to bed pretty much means watch Doc Martin ;) You should all watch Despicable Me though! Maybe with the G-rents?

We saw True Grit last night. The screenplay was nearly identical to the John Wayne version (which we watched two nights ago). Great flick.
